DEVON AKA MR METRO : THE MAN IN THE MIRROR.

Working with Devon was an extraordinary experience, from the minute he shook my hand until the last frame we shot, he had his game on.  These photos were shot for the launch of his new website and also to promote his role as a producer in the Vancouver music scene.

KINNIE STARR : A DIFFERENT DAY

Canadian singer-songwriter Kinnie Starr is currently on tour with Jay Malinowski of The Bedouin Soundclash and crowd favorite Michael Rault.  I had the pleasure of taking these shots before we had lunch on Main street in Vancouver.  She is one of my favorite artists and also a great friend of 10 years.

Kinnie was recently featured on Amazon.com and was number one during the US digital sale.  She continues to keep her heart connected to her roots in all of her poetry and music, making us fans very happy about her new material.

LOVE AND ELECTRIK : MUSIC FOR THE DANCE SOUL!

One of my favorite dance music duos in the world and also two of the most caring performers I’ve met.  Kevin and Roxy were made for Love and Electrik, and their music was made for the dance soul.  I got the chance to photograph them during one of their Vancouver Olympics street performances.

If you like Prince and Janet Jackson, hear what I’m talking about here: http://www.myspace.com/loveandelectrik

PATRICK LEVESQUE : ACTING HEADSHOTS.

This is Patrick Levesque a young Vancouver actor who works with two agents, one for commercial acting and the other for film acting.

LONDON MOMENTS…

These are my favorite moments in the UK during the start of Fall. London has a ton of great places and people who enjoy meeting and sharing local history with other travelers. The Tate is free and has an amazing collection of world famous artists like Salvador Dali and Diego Rivera, I stood next to their work for a while and felt amazing.  At night the energized bars are filled up with people of all ages eating “chips” and drinking Guinness, all while blasting Ska music and other classics…

DANIEL BURKE : CREATIVE SHOOT.

Daniel is one of the cool kids around Van and a very stylish guy who knows where the party action is.  We had no set idea of what we were going to capture during this shoot, so we let the story build itself as we went along.  This shoot was done with the intention to update Daniel’s Facebook account creatively.  We ended up shooting inside his underground parking lot where a “runaway spy” character came along for the photos…

EAST HASTINGS FASHION

These photos are from a pull-out poster produced for Versus Magazine in San Francisco.  Our goal was to photograph fashion on the streets of East Hastings in Vancouver BC.  This area is the oldest neighbourhood in Vancouver also one that has serious issues with drugs and H.I.V. infections.  We were surprised by how approachable these people were while we took their picture and asked a few questions…

LOST VULTURES IN “BLOOD ALLEY”

These latest photos of the Lost Vultures were shot in Blood Alley, Gastown Vancouver BC.  In the old ages this place was the scene of blood that was poured from the back of the buildings where people got decapitated.

The shot bellow was taken at their rehearsal space building or “band condo” where bands practice their sound night and day.  Lost Vultures continue to expand and update their web presence for their fans.

KINNIE STARR SPOTLIGHT!

I met Kinnie Starr at the MTV “Select” studio on Robson & Burrad in Vancouver. She performed a spoken word poem about riding a horse and falling off it, which was a shock against all the top 10 music.  Her energy and ability to capture everyone’s attention while leaving a piece of herself behind, hooked me into her music.  The following week she opened for Nelly Furtado at GM Place and that’s when I bought her second album “Tune-up”.  This album was what inspired me to start experimenting with writing lyrics and sounds.

Since then Kinnie Starr has released two albums, received a Juno nomination, wrote a book of poetry, and she also travels teaching music & song writing to youth all over North America.  She is releasing a new album Summer/Fall 2009, I was very lucky to get a copy of the new material and it’s definitely her best to date.  I’m very excited to see this amazing woman who is a big source of inspiration continue to share her music with Canada and the rest of the world.
